The club is delighted to announce that last season’s First Team manager Robert Midghall has signed a new 12 month contract.

Midghall led the First Team to 4th place in Division 2 of the West Cheshire League last season, narrowly missing out on promotion and finishing with the Manager of the Month award for the whole league.

There were rumours that Midghall may look to step aside and assume a coaching role, but he will instead be joined by former manager John Hughes and assistant, Paul McHale as his coaching team, reuniting the setup that won promotion from Division 3 and the Shield Cup in 2016-17.

Chairman Mark Pollard was understandably ecstatic with his first signings of the summer:

Managers of the quality and experience of Midge are extremely hard to find. The committee worked hard to ensure that he was the first name secured for the new season and I am delighted that we succeeded.

Equally exciting is the fact that we managed to secure the services of John and Lefty, who come with an equally impressive level of experience and will provide the invaluable support needed to achieve our goals this season. They have enjoyed decades of success working together and it was vital that we ensured the foundations of the team were built on these solid characters.

Behind the scenes the club is working very hard in preparation for the new season. We have a number of exciting announcements that we will be making over the course of the summer, and there is little doubt that it is a good time to be part of the Chesh!

Robert Midghall was equally excited by the new season when asked about how he felt about signing up for another season in the hot seat:

When the committee asked it took me no time at all to make a decision. The club is very ambitious and being asked to lead their plans is extremely flattering. My only condition that Yoz and Lefty were part of my coaching team. Their knowledge and experience at this level is unique and their support invaluable and I am made up that they agreed. I genuinely cannot wait to get started with the season.

Pre-season training commences 19 June 2018, although the Gaffa has been given an extended break by the club and will return the following week.
